First Baby Shower

We had our first baby shower this weekend. Women from our church threw the party for us. Men were invited, which was really fun. John enjoyed opening the presents. We got so many wonderful gifts. It makes us even more excited for baby boy Simpson to come! Just 8 more weeks to go!

In your eyes.....

Our child will not look creepy like this picture, but I thought
it might be fun to compare Mommy and Daddy's eyes.

This weekend

This weekend we were at church retreat at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, which is about 2 hours South of our house. It was a beautiful weekend in the mountains, and we had a nice time with our church family. We stopped by Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs on the way home yesterday. It is an amazing place. We were there almost 2 years ago when we visited Colorado before we moved out. Then the last picture is our little sleepy doggies. They stayed at the kennel for the night, and playing with all those dogs really wore them out.

Hanging In There...

Time for an update from me. We're all hanging in there. Everyone is back to work, back to a routine, which is what we all need. It is helpful for me. It's hard, and sometimes you feel like the pieces of your heart might explode from your chest - and other times there is a sense of peace and comfort.
The picture above is the last picture of my Dad. We went to a Chinese restaurant for my birthday, and we ate good food and laughed.

Baby Simpson is running out of room in his little home. He is punching and kicking and doing whatever else it is he does down there. I love to feel him, and sometimes I feel like he's telling me "Mom please sit up straighter, I just don't have room in here." So I try to expand my tummy, although I really don't know if that does any good or not. We have a 30 weeks appointment today. Crazy to believe we could have a full term baby in 7 weeks! Oh the joy of waiting and anticipation for this amazing child.

Messenger -Mary Oliver

My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.

Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work,

which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished. The phoebe, the delphinium. The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture. Which is mostly rejoicing, since all ingredients are here,

which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart and these body-clothes, a mouth with which to give shouts of joy to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam, telling them all, over and over, how it is that we live forever.
